Okay, while I know getting a partial request barely counts as a positive reply, I will still count it, lol. I’ve queried agents hundreds of times over the course of all the books I’ve written, and this is the first time I’ve read a response that didn’t have “unfortunately” somewhere in the first couple of sentences. So I’ll consider that a huge win, haha.
As for what comes next? I have no idea. I know the agent will likely look over the chapters she requested and get back to me if she likes/dislikes the material. I also know this is a far cry from an offer of representation, but I remain hopeful, as I truly believe this book would find its home in the hands of so many readers if only I could get an initial push. Whether that will happen is to be seen, but I’m cautiously optimistic, which is outside of my usual “hope for the best, expect the worst” approach.
As for me, I haven’t really put words to paper since I finished editing. I have been hard at work preparing the campaign my friends and I are playing (The Battle of Fates), which will be the next book I write, but it’s still too soon to start just yet. I absolutely LOVE foreshadowing, so we have to get farther in the game so I know what to foreshadow.
Stay tuned for the next update, as I will hopefully have more good news soon! But just as I said before, even if the agents pass me by this time, I am still elated to publish this book. It truly is the best story I’ve ever written, and I cannot wait to hear what everyone thinks!
